For yet another year, the LIFE ZEPAURBAN Project received a visit from the external team to supervise the work being undertaken. On the 19th and 20th of March, the third monitoring visit for the LIFE ZEPAURBAN Project took place under the direction of Sara Mora, the individual responsible for the Nemo-Idom team's monitoring of the project.

On the 19th a meeting was held in which each player involved in the project presented the main advances that have taken place in the project over recent months, as well as the most notable difficulties. On the second day of the visit, the external team was able to learn about some of the actions that have been most developed over recent months, doing so on site, and to meet some of the main players. To that end, the San Vicente Mártir Church of San Vicente de Alcántara was visited, where the General Directorate of Libraries, Museums, and Cultural Heritage carried out a rehabilitation project on the roof to again make it inhabitable for the lesser kestrel (Action C1). This work was undertaken integrating natural and cultural heritage with guarantees from the environmental point of view and with the participation of the DEMA Association and the General Directorate of the Environment, all of which stressed the importance of making nature and culture compatible. Likewise, in San Vicente Mártir, the team was able to visit the lesser kestrel release module that is being used in order to reestablish a colony of the species (Action C3), a job that is being undertaken by DEMA. Subsequently, the team traveled to Trujillo where it was able to see the location of the specimens marked with GPS transmitters in 2018 (Action A2), as well as to see the images that are being obtained thanks to the camera that was installed in the silo (Action A8). A very important part of the visit was to meet those who are part of the Urban Birding Tourist Product developed through Action E9, as well as to experience firsthand one of the activities that are offered by those who are part of the Tourist Product by means of a tour through the streets of Trujillo. The morning came to a close with lunch at La Emilia, a restaurant that participates in the Urban Birding Project. In the afternoon, the visit moved to the area of the Casa de la Enjarada SPA in Cáceres. A visit was paid to of the possible collaborating estates where it is foreseeable that livestock management will be carried out to favor the presence of lesser kestrels. The day ended with a visit to a lesser kestrel roost.

The members of the ZEPAURBAN Project team would like to thank all the project partners, as well as those who are part of the Tourist Product and all the individuals and entities that made this visit possible: The San Vicente Parish, the i-Novo Center, the Trujillo City Council, the Trujillo Veterinary Office, and the Corchuela del Salor estate.
