The promoter is the General Directorate of Libraries, Archives, and Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Sports, with the technicians of the Works and Projects Service of said Ministry drafting the project. The total budget for the 4 lots is 92,175 euros (VAT included) and its breakdown is as follows:
Lot 1: Acedera. Adaptation of putlog holes for the nesting of the lesser kestrel at the Ntra. Sra. de la Jara Church. Tender budget: € 18,306
Lot 2: Garrovillas de Alconétar. Installation of nesting boxes for lesser kestrels at the Santa María de la Consolación Church. Tender budget: € 12,910.
Lot 3: Plasencia. Adaptation of the attic for the installation of nesting boxes for lesser kestrels at the San Vicente Ferrer Church. Tender budget: € 28,159
Lot 4: Zafra. Actions to improve the nesting of the lesser kestrel at the Ntra. Sra. de la Candelaria Church. Tender budget: € 32,799
The projects define the actions necessary for improving the nesting conditions of the lesser kestrel in these pieces of religious property, all of which are located in urban SPAs; therefore, the actions are included within the conservation actions that are part of the LIFE ZEPAURBAN Project for the Management of Urban SPAs in Extremadura.
These activities are part of Action C1 "Adaptation of nesting sites in buildings of heritage value in urban SPAs of Extremadura", in which the General Directorate of Libraries, Archives, and Cultural Heritage and the General Directorate of Sustainability (former General Directorate . of the Environment) both participate.
The main objective of the actions is the adaptation of putlog holes for lesser kestrels and swifts, the installation of outdoor nests and the installation of nesting boxes under the roof. In addition to the above, small interventions will be carried out consisting of rejointing masonry work, cleaning gutters, partial roofing, dismantling of nests and installation of supports, adaptation of access stairs to attic, installation of lifelines for maintenance tasks, and installation of metal mesh to prevent the entry of pigeons.
These actions will contribute to improving and adapting the nesting sites of the lesser kestrel colonies that inhabit the properties, as well as to facilitating the conservation and maintenance of the buildings' roofs.
